Description



Music publication took off in the 1500s. By the latter part of the century it was extremely popular, a means of disseminating entertainment for use at a time when everybody played an instrument. Increasingly dance music and lighter compositions were being sold, and sold very well. This disc presents a group of popular Italian dances of the day, arranged by well-known composers who each issued their own published compilation.
