SUMMARY: Boston pharmacist Tom Craig (John Wayne) arrives in Sacramentoto open his Pharmacy, but has trouble finding a place to rent. A local politician, Britt Dawson, exacts protection money from the citizenry, but can't get Tom to pay. Dawson frames Tom by poisoning Tom's medicine, which kills a client. Tom is now in trouble wth the law.
