Irobot. One very good attempt at bringing a new take on blade runner. No really.

If you look at it in a certain way the flick is almost a retelling of Blade Runner.

- There is a company made robot that can possibly simulate "it's own emotional responses"

- The police officer has some past issues with the robots

- There is an outcast police officer looking for the robot.

- There is a question in the flick about what exactly is human

- Oh and the gun. Check out his gun.

The acting and writing are almost spot on.

The problem arises with some extra plot details that were put in to "heighten" the action and "serious" up the narrative.

For example, the beginning scenes with Spooner taking out the robot that was innocent. It was a bit um what is the word un realistic? Close.

Another example, the wrecking of the house by the big robot. Great scenes, awesome action, just was not needed for the story. Actually brought the movie down a few notches in terms of storytelling.

This flick comes close to tickle it ivories of a hardened blade runner fan. I mean there was a great backstory, awesome action, great story arcs and the likeable man from bel air himself, Will Smith.

Oh and it has Wash from firefly!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too cool.

So now the flick has a bit more hardened feel to it. No more over the top heroics brings out a more serious flick for the sci fi fan.
