Ironrats debut offering 'Monument' is a juggernaut of powerful down-tuned riffs and gritty vocals which when coupled together grind themselves into your soul leaving you with a permanent smile. The opening track 'Eye Lucifer' will get you moving from the start and will have you heading towards the volume button because it just screams "Louder, LOUDER". The epic 'The Last Outlaw' gives you a little breather as the pace which for the main part is a little slower which is a good thing because you'll need your energy for the pacey 'Feed The Pigs'. Now, a little word of advice if you have any more volume left then turn it up sit back and let 'Monument' 'Thunderlord' and 'King and Master' pound your senses to the point where you ear drums will be left rattling for a week. 'Lung' leads very nicely into my favorite section of the album 'Morphine Soul' and 'Swamp Rat'...bare with me here...When 'Morphine Soul' begins close your eyes and imagine yourself sitting on the steps a decrepit porch in the deep south of America, with a bottle of Jack in hand as you gaze out into a super-heated wasteland contemplating life and death...'Morphine Soul' for me fits that setting...well right up until 2 minutes 17 seconds anyway. You are suddenly pulled away from your thoughts and thrown into a sweaty mosh pit that Sabbath would be proud of. 'Swamp Rat' is a definite highlight in this mix of great songs laced with a 70's vibe between Ironrat's now familiar tones...the sudden change of tempo in this song midway through is sublime. Then another epic 'Weed Machine' gives the album a great ending.


You seriously need this album on your shelf it won't look out of place sitting among the likes of Black Sabbath and Down
