Description

At one time any album labeled "Italian Baroque Trumpet Music" would have meant trnascriptions of violin works for trumpet, usually performed by the likes of Maurice Andre. But that's no longer the case, as a great deal of trumpet music, intended for ceremonial purpose and (often) composed with considerable inspiration, has been both unearthed and recorded. The composers heard here--Pallavacino, Matteis, Mancini, Stradella, Fantini, Viviani, Franceschini, Cazzati, Giovanni Bononcini, and Corelli--provide a fine sampling of what citizens in the wealthier Italian states and their more metropolitan cities would hear at the innumerable festivals and celebrations that occurred as often as several times a month.

Transfers are made at 768 kBits/s, directly from the disc.
