"The Lord of the Rings" and "The Silmarillion" are the two most famous novels by J. R. R. Tolkien. While the first novel is set in Middle-earth and tells about the Fellowship of the Ring in their quest for destruction of the One Ring, forged by the Dark Lord Sauron, "The Silmarillion" is a compendium of legends and tales concerning the creation and further history of Middle-earth and its inhabitants.
