Description

"Forge me the Sampo, and you will get your loved one back"
In ancient China the warrior Sintai is born to fight a demon, the last son of Loviatar. Wanting a chance to be together with the woman he loves, Sintai delays fulfilling his destiny. Many lifes later, Sintai gets a new shot at the demon as Kai, a blacksmith in modern day Finland. There´s no backing out for him anymore, since the demon gets his hands on the Sampo, a machine of gods, and Sintai/Kai has to stop him.

This movie from the director Antti-Jussi Annila combines Chinese folklore with the Finnish Kalevala, the national epic of Finland, inlcudes elements of fantasy, adventure and horror movies, and is exceptionally beautifully made. In Toronto film festival it was given the "official selection".
Starring Tommi Eronen, Markku Peltola, Krista Kosonen, Zhang Jingchu, Elle Kull and Taiseng Cheng.

To anonymomous: Yes, the story is quite strange. It´s based on the finnish national epic, which has a story of blacksmith Ilmarinen, who was in love with a woman, and the woman´s mother demanded Ilmarinen to forge her the Sampo, and he would get to marry the daughter. Also Chinese mythology knows the sampo, which makes one think how could the same story be known in so different parts of the world. I had a bit of hard time writing some kind of description to the movie, that wouldn´t be complicated. :-)
If the english subs don´t sync automatically, adjust them to -3 (by pressing ctrl+left). Tough job to find subs for these not so well-known movies.
