Mr Douglas from Swindon, who used to work at the town's Asda supermarket, has said his plans include recording an "inspirational" album. Jahmene Douglas quietly came onto the X Factor stage, admitting he was the shy guy of the competition, but when he opened his mouth to sing, the judges couldn’t believe what came out his mouth. The 21-year-old delivered a breathtaking rendition of Etta James hit At Last, complete with impressive vocal ‘runs’ – you know, that incredible warbling thing that Mariah Carey does oh-so well. But move over Mariah: Gary Barlow, Louis Walsh, Tulisa Contostavlos and Nicole Scherzinger insisted Jahmene truly had the X Factor and gushed that “a star is born.” We caught up with the ever-so-lovely Jahmene backstage, where he “woo hooed” with delight at the judges (no brainer) decision to put him through to the next round. He said: “As a kid growing up, I didn’t get out much. Sounds sad but the only thing I could find sanctuary in was my music.” And which artist inspired this super supermarket worker? Watch the video find to find out. We were also particularly impressed with Jahmene’s rather nifty suit and by the sounds of it, he’s a man who takes a great deal of pride and time in his appearance.
