James Bond (Sean Connery) krijgt opdracht om de van goudsmokkel verdachte crimineel Auric Goldfinger (Gert Fröbe) te schaduwen. Dat Goldfinger ver gaat om zijn belangen veilig te stellen, merkt Bond in een Miami hotel, alwaar Jill Masterson (Shirley Eaton) van Goldfinger een speciale behandeling heeft gekregen. Bond probeert de organisatie van Goldfinger binnen te dringen. Helaas voor hem doorziet Goldfinger hem en komt Bond pijnlijk in aanraking met de dodelijke bolhoed van Golfinger’s chauffeur Oddjob (Harold Sakata). Als Bond in Geneve door Goldfinger gevangen wordt genomen, ontdekt hij wat duivels plan deze man met de grootste wereldvoorraad goud in Fort Knox in petto heeft om daarmee de wereldeconomie te ontwrichten.

The powerful tycoon Auric Goldfinger has initiated "Operation Grand Slam," a cataclysmic scheme to raid Fort Knox and obliterate the world economy. James Bond, armed with his specially equipped Aston Martin (its accessory package includes built-in machine guns, a smoke screen and an ejector seat), must stop the plan by overcoming several outrageous adversaries. First there's Oddjob, the mute servant who kills at the toss of a lethal hat; next, the beautiful Jill Masterson, who gives new meaning to the phrase "golden girl"; and finally, sexy pilot Pussy Galore, whose romantic feelings for Bond complicate her involvement in Goldfinger's high-flying scheme.
