James C. Sung, Jianping Lin - Diamond Nanotechnology - Syntheses and Applications (2010).pdf (Size: 35.58 MB)
DescriptionThis book on nanodiamonds is the first of its kind. Nanodiamonds are indispensable for polishing industrial materials (e.g., computer hard drives and read heads) and advanced ceramics (e.g., silicon carbide and gem diamond). The book is valuable for those dealing with nanodiamonds as well as for those interested in a general education of nanosize materials. Review "Well-established high pressure production methods, commercial production of diamond abrasives, CVD films, PVD diamond-like carbon coatings (DLC), and micron- and nanosized materials produced using shock waves from explosive detonation are discussed. The many illustrations, SEM photos, and graphs form an excellent technical resource. There are also very good technical descriptions of each of the processing methods... very informative from a technical perspective, especially for materials scientists and those interested in the technology of diamonds." ―IEEE Electrical Insulation Magazine "The reader will re-realize how many properties diamond has, how it has the best characteristics among other materials, how wide its applications are, how new technology items are coming out in spite of its natural-born history. The introduction, 'Diamond in the Sky', is fascinating!" ―Dr Shinichi Shikata, AIST, Japan About the Author Dr James C. Sung received his PhD from MIT in 1976. Subsequently, he joined General Electric (the largest diamond maker) and was manager of Diamond Engineering until 1984. Dr Sung later helped Norton (the largest diamond user) establish diamond synthesis capabilities. In late 1980s he also transferred diamond technology to Iljin of Korea (the largest diamond maker in Asia). In early 1990 Dr Sung developed novel diamond tools at Industrial Technology Research Institute in Taiwan. Since 1996, Dr Sung has developed state-of-the-art diamond technologies for Kinik in Taiwan. As a result, Kinik became the world's largest producer of diamond disks that was indispensable for the manufacture of semiconductor products. Dr Sung holds over 100 US patents. He has published more than 200 papers and has also authored 20 books. Sharing Widget |
