James Joyce - Ulysses, Finnegans Wake & more (12 books) (Size: 179.58 MB)
DescriptionJAMES JOYCE (1882-1941) was an Irish novelist and poet, considered to be one of the most influential writers in the modernist avant-garde of the early 20th century. He is best known for ULYSSES (1922), a landmark work in which the episodes of Homer's Odyssey are paralleled in an array of contrasting literary styles, perhaps most prominent among these the stream of consciousness technique he perfected. Other major works are the short-story collection DUBLINERS (1914), and the novels A PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST AS A YOUNG MAN (1916) and FINNEGANS WAKE (1939). Multiple editions of all these works are included in a mix of PDF and/or ePUB formats as noted: * CHAMBER MUSIC (Jonathan Cape, 1972). -- ePUB * DUBLINERS (Oxford World's Classics, 2000). Compiled by "Pynch" and posted on the mobileread website, both files are exceptionally impressive in their presentation and clearly represent a labor of love: * THE COMPLETE WORKS (ePub) http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174940 This 4100-page volume collects the seven books published in Joyce's lifetime, plus three sections of posthumously published writings: poems, essays, three volumes of letters, and additional prose. It is a real treat for Joyce aficionados. * FINNEGANS WAKE + WORKS IN PROGRESS (ePub) http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=224198 This special edition of Finnegans Wake, taken from the document above, contains valuable additional material, including Joyce's early drafts that often differ substantially from the 1939 text.
