But they’re shocked to hear his reason for premature retirement: John claims he must move on because he is immortal, and cannot stay in one place for more than ten years without his secret being discovered. Tempers rise and emotions flow as John’s fellow professors attempt to poke holes in his story, but it soon becomes clear that his tale is as impossible to disprove as it is to verify. What starts out as a friendly gathering soon builds to an unexpected and shattering climax. Acclaimed science fiction writer Jerome Bixby, writer of the original ‘Star Trek’ and ‘The Twilight Zone’, originally conceived this story back in the early 1960’s. It would come to be his last great work. Biography Richard Schenkman is a filmmaker whose movies include "The Pompatus of Love", "Went to Coney Island on a Mission from God... Be Back by Five", "Jerome Bixby's The Man From Earth" and perennial holiday favorite, "A Diva's Christmas Carol" starring Vanessa Williams as Ebony Scrooge. His first "real job" was sweeping up popcorn in a movie theatre; he has since worked for NBC, MTV, Nickelodeon, and many other networks. He has written extensively about cinema, taught writing & directing, and published a fanzine about James Bond 007. He lives in Los Angeles with his daughter, a cat, and two fish. "The Girl From Atlantis" is his first novel, but it won't be his last! For more information, please visit www.thegirlfromatlantis.com Sharing Widget |
