Joe Bonamassa lijkt niet te stoppen. Hij brengt elk jaar trouw een studioalbum uit, doet projecten met andere artiesten en bands en toert continu over de wereld. Met de Dvd Beacon Theatre Live From New York laat hij zien zich op het podium toch met meest thuis te voelen.

Na het succes van de Dvd Live From The Royal Albert Hall zat er natuurlijk een opvolger aan te komen. De Amerikaanse bluesrockgitarist koos daarvoor het prachtige Beacon Theatre op Broadway in Manhattan. Een locatie met een barokke decor en een akoestiek die is gemaakt voor dit soort muziek. Bonamassa die vorig jaar nog zo succesvol in Nederland was met het duetalbum Don't Explain dat hij samen met Beth Hart opnam, stijgt langzaam in de rangorde van de bluesgrootheden.

Op deze Dvd wordt hij op twee songs bijgestaan door de onvolprezen Hart en daarnaast springen John Hiatt en zijn vocale voorbeeld Paul Rodgers op het podium. Maar het is vooral Bonamassa die met zijn vlijmscherpe gitaarspel en opvallend goede stem de show steelt op deze Dvd die zowel beeld- als geluidstechnisch prima werd opgenomen. Daarnaast is de songkeuze geraffineerd. Bonamassa eert voorbeeld Gary Moore in diens Midnight Blues, doet samen met Rodgers songs van The Free en Bad Company en komt zelfs weg met een geslaagde versie van Leonard Cohen's Bird On A Wire.

Joe Bonamassa seems unstoppable. He spends each year wedding studio album, doing projects with other artists and bands and touring constantly across the world. With the DVD Live From Beacon Theatre New York, he shows himself on stage with most still feel at home.

After the success of the DVD Live From The Royal Albert Hall, there was naturally a successor to arrive. The American blues-rock guitarist chose the beautiful Beacon Theatre on Broadway in Manhattan. A location with a baroque decor and acoustics that is made for this kind of music. Bonamassa who last year was so successful in the Netherlands with the duet album Don 't Explain that he and Beth Hart answered, slowly rising in the ranking of the blues greats.

On this DVD, he assisted on two songs by the celebrated Hart and John Hiatt also jump and Paul Rodgers vocal sample on the stage. But it is especially Bonamassa with his razor-sharp guitar playing and distinguished voice steals the show on this DVD that is both technically excellent image and sound was recorded.
