ABOUT THE BOOK
1903. The British Empire has reached its probable apogee: so much of the world map is coloured red and the sun never set on its boundaries. But Lord Curzon, the ambitious Viceroy of India, has different views. Tibet, the mountainous region on the Raj's borders, irritates him: the Dalai Lama never replies to his letters and border disputes multiply. He decides to invade and recruits Simon Fonthill, veteran of so many of 'Queen Victoria's Little Wars,' to lead 2000 men over the ice-bound Himalayan passes to Lhasa. Fonthill sets out on another expedition with his wife Alice, reporting for the Morning Post, and his old comrade, '352' Jenkins. It is machine guns against muskets as the cruel and brave monks, fighting on their own terrain among the clouds, oppose the invasion. When Alice is captured, treachery is revealed, and Fonthill and Jenkins must gallop to her aid in their most arduous and thrilling adventure yet.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
John Wilcox. An inability to do sums and a nascent talent to string words together steered me towards journalism - that and the desire to wear a trenchcoat, belted with a knot, just like Bogart.
The life of a daily paper reporter completely fulfilled me and I must have been competent because I won a "Young Journalist of the Year" award. It still, then, puzzles me that I allowed myself to be lured away to become head of public relations at one of the UK's largest car makers. I was happy, later, to move into the more tangible world of marketing and happier still when eventually I was able to sell the company that I partly owned to move to the country and just write.
Ten books and seven novels later I am still at it. Nowhere am I more content than sitting in my studio at the bottom of my Wiltshire garden, among the fairies, looking out on my chestnut trees and the Victorian world of Simon Fonthill. Married now with children opted to return to writing at fifty, with money in the bank.

ABOUT THE READER
Saul Reichlin before training at Central School of Speech and Drama, practiced law, for five years, in South Africa and London. He has appeared in West End and many other major U.K. theatres. He is Artistic Director of Lone Star Theatre Company, and lives in London.

Remember, we have uploaded these books just for you because we wish to SHARE them. It is only right therefore, you SHARE them with others, and the only way you can do this, is to keep SEEDING. In other words, don't stop after you have finished the download. Check and make sure your torrent program is set to continue uploading even after the downloading has been completed. A ratio of 2.0 means you are giving back twice what you have received, the book won't die and all our efforts have not been wasted but 5.0 would be outstanding and shows you have really entered into the spirit of what we are about. WE DO OUR BIT AND YOU DO YOUR BIT, sounds fair, doesn't it. If you are new to this and don't understand, type a message at the bottom and if I can't help, I know someone who can.
