Stax Records' lifetime retrospective of Johnnie Taylor's work is a compilation full of treasures: It includes not only Taylor's well known solo recordings for Stax (1966-1975) with famous backing support from Booker T. & The MG's and Isaac Hayes. It also contains some earlier works with The Soul Stirrers, of course some previously unreleased tracks, just a few takes from his disco era and also his late recordings for Malaco Records. The final song of this compilation is 'Soul Heaven', the final song from his final album 'Gotta Get The Groove Back' - released a few months before his death. The lyrics are comforting but also a little creepy:
