Johnny Winter - 1986 - 3rd Degree (2009 Reissue) [EAC FLAC] Johnny Winter Johnny Winter in 1969 Wikipedia: John Dawson Winter III (February 23, 1944 – July 16, 2014), known as Johnny Winter, was an American musician, singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. Best known for his high-energy blues-rock albums and live performances in the late 1960s and 1970s, Winter also produced three Grammy Award-winning albums for blues singer and guitarist Muddy Waters. After his time with Waters, Winter recorded several Grammy-nominated blues albums. In 1988, he was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame and in 2003, he was ranked 63rd in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time". 3rd Degree Artist: Johnny Winter Title: 3rd Degree Format: CD, Album Country: UK Producer: Johnny Winter, Dick Shurman Release Date: 1986, (2009) Recorded: Streetville Studios, Chicago, Illinois Label: Alligator Records Catalog: ALCD 4748 Barcode: 0045395474821 ASIN: B0000009YH Genre: Blues, Texas Blues, Slide Guitar Blues, Electric Blues, Blues Rock Duration: 43:53 Wikipedia: Third Degree is a 1986 album by Johnny Winter and the final of the trilogy he made for Alligator Records. For the occasion Winter temporarily reunited with Tommy Shannon and Uncle Red Turner, who used to be his first backing band. Another notable guest on the record is Doctor John, who performed on "Love, Life and Money" and "Tin Pan Alley". Winter also included a couple of solo acoustic numbers, practicing for months with a National Steel Guitar. AllMusic Review by William Ruhlmann: After two stellar sets for the independent blues label Alligator Records, Johnny Winter wisely changes things up on his third Alligator LP. He brings in Dr. John to play organ on "Love, Life and Money" and, more prominently, piano on "Tin Pan Alley." He plays a National steel guitar on "Bad Girl Blues" (a blues about lesbians!) and uses his slide with another National on "Evil on My Mind." And, most significant, he reunites with his old rhythm section of bass player Tommy Shannon and drummer Uncle John "Red" Turner (with whom he played from the late ‘60s to 1970) on "See See Baby," "Shake Your Moneymaker," and "Broke and Lonely." Particularly on those three tracks, he sounds like the blues-rock singer/guitarist who garnered so much attention when he first emerged from Texas as an "overnight" national star in 1969. Those days have passed, but Winter has matured into a dependable blues musician able to shine in a variety of styles and bring out the best in his fellow musicians. 01 - Mojo Boogie (J.B.
