1.) Install exe file. DONT"T RUN PROGRAM YET
2.) Drag / copy patch to install folder
3.) Run patch - j.river.media.center.19.x-patch
NB!!! Be sure that you are in the correct directory and patch xxx19 and not an earlier install. It opened my old installation folder xxx18 by default. Just go one directory up in the pop up explorer and chosse your new install folder
4.) If it cannot find what to patch:
4.1) navigate with the pop up to the install directory
4.2) choose "Show all files" from the drop down bottom right
4.3) click on "Media Center 19.exe" and ok
***The reason it does not find it is because the patch looks for Media Center19.exe instead of Media Center 19.exe
5.) exit after it ran
6.) block program from updates:
Menu -> Help -> Update Channels -> Disable Automatic Update
otherwise it will eventually update and give errors like it did with me. If that happened already, clear temp docs in C:UsersYOURUSERNAMEAppDataLocaltemp and in C:UsersYOURUSERNAMEAppDataRoamingJ RiverMedia Center 19Install to get rid of the update and run patch again. (It will look like this: MediaCenter190067.exe, version will most likely be higher as time goes by. Delete it.)
Follow same instructions if there's a message in the action window and you didn't run it or restarted yet, maybe you can dodge the bullet like I did. If that fails reinstall, run the patch and try again. If still no luck, uninstall with revo uninstaller, clear temp dir and start over, you will loose your settings and library so backup 1st.
Notes: You can also block the program by creating a new outbound rule in outgoing connections in Windows Firewall Advanced Security - it may cause some online functions to stop working, I'm not sure as I haven't tested that route.
It's always best to install apps with revo uninstaller monitor while being disconnected from the net, just to be safe (I didn't disconnect for this app but it's because I wanted to see if it tries to prevent the install)
