Kydd 04 - Mutiny Kydd 06 - Tenacious ABOUT THE BOOK This book finds Thomas Kydd aboard Tenacious, part of a small squadron commanded by Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson. Its mission is to scour the Mediterranean and locate Napoleon and his army. Kydd's newly fired ambition leads him to volunteer for shore service in the capture of Minorca. Later, he faces the great ships-of-the-line at the Battle of the Nile as the British take on the French in a no-holds-barred struggle for supremacy in southern waters. But there is one more test to come: the Siege of Acre, where Kydd and a handful of British seamen under the command of Sir Sidney Smith face an army of thirteen thousand!  ABOUT THE AUTHOR Julian Stockwin was born 15 January 1944 and wanted to go to sea ever since he could remember. His mother said that as a toddler he went up to sailors on the street, and on one occasion dragged home a dead seabird because it smelled of the sea! He was entranced when his great uncle Tom Clay, a seaman in square-rigged ships who had sailed around the Horn in the "Cutty Sark", took him over this ship. As a young boy he read everything about the sea and was especially terrified by a description of a great storm, but longed to go to sea to experience one. He won a scholarship to a grammar school, but his mind was captivated by seeing low grey shapes far out to sea, outward bound to who knew where. He passed this sight every day on my way to school; his scholastic performance suffered! In the hope of having the nonsense knocked out of him, his father sent him to a tough sea-training school. This only strengthened his resolve for a life at sea and at fifteen he joined the Royal Navy. After leaving the Navy (rated Petty Officer) he practised as an educational psychologist. He worked for some time in Hong Kong, where he was commissioned into the Royal Naval Reserve.  ABOUT THE READER Christian Rodska (born September 5, 1945 in Northumberland) is a versatile British actor who has appeared in many television and radio series and narrated a number of audiobooks.
