The story most resembles a Hill Have Eyes set-up with normal people (twenty-somethings on a camping trip) and crazy hill people (mostly backwoods types) with the usual misunderstandings, muderous stalking and body count; though, as it followed hot on the heels of Friday the 13th, it clearly borrows a lot of its look from that franchise. It may not rock your socks off but it does provide some pretty good chills for someone looking for an early 80s slasher movie they might not have seen. I liked these early slashers before the sequels became the model. The first wave of these made some efforts include some original elements and Just Before Dawn stands as one of these quality F13 followers.
