Dapkounatie is the 'heroine', the downtrodden wife of an immature husband who is packed off to her mother-in-law's (Frenjdlikh) dacha to be unpaid skivvy and typist of the domineering old cow's latest best-selling novel. However, when both women fall for the hunky charms of handyman Mashkov, the situation turns to almost inadvertent murder, guilt and deception as Dapkounatie and Mashkov try to persuade both the police and Frenjdlikh's publisher that she's still alive. There's not much in the way of thrills, but the combination of performances, direction and images on-screen become gradually engrossing.
