Wikipedia:

Keith Lionel Urban (born 26 October 1967) is a New Zealand-born Australian country music singer, songwriter, guitarist, entrepreneur and music competition judge. In 1991, he released a self-titled debut album, and charted four singles in Australia before moving to the United States the following year. He found work as a session guitarist before starting a band known as The Ranch, which recorded one studio album on Capitol Nashville and charted two singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Still signed to Capitol, Urban made his solo American debut in 1999 with the album Keith Urban. Certified platinum in the US, it produced his first Number One on Hot Country Songs with "But for the Grace of God". "Somebody Like You", the first single from his second Capitol album, Golden Road (2002), was named by Billboard as the biggest country hit of the 2000s decade. The album's fourth single, "You'll Think of Me", earned him his first Grammy. 2004's Be Here, his third American album, produced three more number 1 singles, and became his highest-selling album, earning 4× Platinum certification. Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing was released in 2006, containing "Once in a Lifetime", as well as his second Grammy song, "Stupid Boy". A greatest hits package entitled Greatest Hits: 18 Kids followed in late 2007. Defying Gravity and Get Closer were released on March 31, 2009 and November 16, 2010 respectively. In September 2013, he released a brand new album titled Fuse, which produced three more number ones on the newly introduced Country Airplay chart.

Urban has released a total of nine studio albums (one of which was released only in the United Kingdom), as well as one album with The Ranch. He has charted 31 singles on the US country charts, of which 17 have reached Number One (counting a duet with Brad Paisley and the 2008 single "You Look Good in My Shirt", which Keith Urban himself previously recorded on Golden Road). Those number-ones also include his third Grammy Award winning single "Sweet Thing", which is from his album Defying Gravity.

Urban is also known for his roles as a coach on the Australian version of the singing competition The Voice, and as a judge on American Idol. Since 2006, he has been married to actress Nicole Kidman. In October 2013, Urban introduced his own signature line of guitars and accessories.

In a Nashville environment where tales of Deep South trailer park poverty are worn like badges of honour, Keith Urban's Australian upbringing means he's had to work twice as hard to be accepted. It's not the only thing which marks him out from the other thrusting young males on the country scene. He's no angry young man like Toby Keith or Daryle Singletary, instead opting to avoid the political in favour of inoffensive themes of relationship struggles and living a God-fearing life. Just like Kenny Chesney, but with the musicianship to back it up.

He's a phenomenal guitarist, like Brad Paisley, but has a dangerous edge that comes from flicked blond hair, tight jeans and an infectious energy on stage. He's the David Beckham of country music.

His third album, Be Here, sees Urban continuing in much the same vein as Golden Road (2002) and Keith Urban (2000). Co-produced again with Dann Huff (Lonestar, Clint Black and Megadeth), the pair indulge their love of driving guitar riffs from the outset. But they're commercially minded enough to not leave it too long before dropping in the ballads aimed at the female fanbase, including "The Hard Way", "You're My Better Half" and the piano-led "Tonight I Wanna Cry" with its soaring "Wind Beneath My Wings" type chorus.

These two styles are cleverly combined on "I Could Fly" and "You're My Better Half", which are both upbeat and poppy whilst being, frankly, wet, but somehow they manage to get away with it.

Rodney Crowell -who contributed some of the finer moments on Golden Road - largely dispenses with the flowery stuff, opting for simplicity in his tribute to his wife, "Makin' Memories Of Us". But just when you're enjoying the direct and honest declarations of 'I wanna sleep with you forever', he goes and blows it with the promise, 'We'll follow the rainbow, wherever the four winds blow...'.

One song you'll recognise will be "Country Comfort", the 1970s Elton John song which Urban first discovered via 1980s country star Juice Newton. John revived it recently for the Earl Scruggs And Friends album, and it's good to see that banjo still taking centre stage. Three solo albums in and the boy's really starting to make his mark.
