Scott Mescudi, better known by his stage name Kid Cudi, is a Cleveland rapper who started to gain attention through the release of his first single, 'Day 'N' Nite'. Cudi released his first mixtape, A KiD Named CuDi, in collaboration with New York streetwear brand 10.Deep Clothing as a free download. The mixtape features a guest appearance from DC rapper Wale and caught the attention of Kanye West which spawned his signing to the GOOD Music Label. In early September 2008, he performed at the 2008 VMAs along side Travis Barker and DJ AM. Kid Cudi is featured on Kanye West's latest album, 808s & Heartbreak, singing with him on the track named 'Welcome To Heartbreak', providing additional vocals on 'Paranoid' and helping with songwriting on 'Heartless'. In the UK, Kid Cudi featured on the longlist for the BBC News website's Sound of 2009 poll of up-and-coming acts.



'Day 'N' Nite' is the debut single by Hip hop artist, Kid Cudi. It was produced by Dot Da Genius and released February 2008 in the U.S.A. on the 'A Kid Named Cudi' mixtape but was featured by many blogs in mid November credited to being featured on "NBA Live 2009", and the 64th Episode of HBO's hit series "Entourage", both during the fall season. In Europe, the remix by the Italian DJ's Crookers, is much more popular than the original. For example, it was song of the week on Belgian radio station Studio Brussel. A video was released for this version of the song that Cudi expressed displeasure with and for it being released without his permission. He issued an explanation on his blog and asked that all bloggers remove the video from their blogs. The song was released on 12th January 2009 in the UK as both download and physical. It is currently placed at No.2 on the UK Singles chart.
