Most poems in anthologies are selected by editors or artists. This book is different in two ways: all the poems in it were picked by kids and all the poems in it are very, very funny. Making the final selection of poems for the book was the fun part. Reading 20,000 poems wasn’t quite as entertaining. In fact, editor Bruce Lansky had difficulty staying awake at times as he searched for poems funny enough to test with kids. After two years, he found 500 amusing poems. Then a panel of 300 elementary school children helped him select the very funniest.
