The Roman Empire is stretched across many nations, including Britain. In their conquest for more land, the Romans went into Sarmatia where they fought the very brave Sarmatian cavalery. The Romans, impressed by the Sarmatian's weaponery and fighting skills, included them into their army as knights. After 15 years of serving and fighting for the Roman Empire the Sarmatian Knights, lead by Arthur/Artorious Castus, are about to receive their freedom as the Romans are leaving Britain. But the Knights must carry out one final order before they are free. A Roman priest and his family, especially his son Alecto, must be rescued from the invading Saxons. But there is another danger lurking on the road to freedom - the Woads, British rebels who hate the Romans.



King Arthur är namnet på den film som behandlar Arthur och hans ädla riddares öden och äventyr. Många kanske minns Disneys tolkning Svärdet i stenen, och även om jag inte sett den tecknade versionen kan jag nästan försäkra er om att den här filmen inte är en remake. Visst, vi har Jerry Bruckheimer som producent och vi har Keira Knightley i en viktig roll som Guinevere. Bara detta får en att tänka på Disneys senaste spelfilmssuccé Arthur på sin häst Pirates the Carribean. Mycket riktigt är det även Buena Vista som har hand om distributionen av den här filmen. Men det är som om Disney känt för att göra vuxenversionen av historien, helt enkelt. Man har satt historien i sitt rätta tidsperspektiv och försökt göra sig av med de romantiska skildringarna av riddarna till förmån för någon sorts realism. Hur realistisk nu en svärdsfilm som har PG-13-status i USA och som saknar blod, kan vara.
