English Standard Version (ESV)

"And from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood"

See the difference here? Washed and Freed? They both don't mean the same thing, certainly doesn't mean the same word in Greek. Again, Roman Vulgate is responsible for this modern translation. I don't trust scholar integrity at all, only by the Holy Spirit. The original inspiration from the New Testament saints.
