Description
La hora de los Hornos (1968)
Directors: Octavio Getino Fernando E. Solanas La Hora de los Hornos - 1 - Neocolonialismo y violencia La hora de los Hornos - 2 - Acto para la liberación La hora de los Hornos - 3 - Violencia y liberación IMDB Reveiw: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063084/ Argentinean Fernando Ezequiel Solanas and Spaniard Octavio Getino were two outstanding activists of Latin American cinema. They took different routes (Getino was the philosopher, writing about cinema, economy and politics), but in the 1960s they collaborated on one of the most important manifestos of the "New Latin American cinema", known as "Towards a Third Cinema", and together they made "The Hour of the Furnaces: Notes and Testimonies on Neocolonialism, Violence and Liberation", one of the major works of Latin American documentalism, which they defined as a "cine-act" to inform, beyond the entertainment factor. If one of the three parts that comprise this work has to be seen, "Neocolonialismo y violencia" (running 90 minutes) is the key part and the mandatory section for the specialist to see. This first part is a document with particular annotations, tinted with manichean, dogmatic or contradictory position, inherent to its Peronist proclivity; a document created in a very specific time, when several Latin American countries were living moments of intense political, cultural and social unrest, in their struggles against imperialism. However, it is as striking today as it was in 1968, because of its stylistic devices, recurring to Brecht's alienation effect and the audience's interaction (in some points of parts two and three, intertitles ask to stop the projector and start the debate), but above everything else, because of its lucid approach to neocolonialism in Latin America through a methodical analysis of a particular national history, including the complicity of local oligarchies. This is also the documentary that ends with a long shot of the lifeless face of Ernesto "Che" Guevara filling the screen. ********************************************************************************** Description: File Name:La Hora de los Hornos - 1 - Neocolonialismo y violencia File Size (in bytes) ..: 847 MB (or 867,738 KB or 888,563,712 bytes) Runtime (# of frames) .: 01:24:56 (127,390 fr) Video Codec ...........: XviD Frame Size ............: 720x576 FPS ...................: 25 Video Bitrate .........: 1197 kb/s Bits per Pixel ........: 0.115 bits/pixel Audio Codec ...........: 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3 Sample Rate ...........: 48000 Hz Audio bitrate .........: 192 kb/s (96/ch, stereo) CBR ***************************************************************** File Name:La hora de los Hornos - 2 - Acto para la liberación File Size (in bytes) ..: 1,104 MB (or 1,130,648 KB or 1,157,783,552 bytes) Runtime (# of frames) .: 01:50:34 (165,852 fr) Video Codec ...........: XviD Frame Size ............: 720x576 FPS ...................: 25 Video Bitrate .........: 1198 kb/s Bits per Pixel ........: 0.116 bits/pixel Audio Codec ...........: 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3 Sample Rate ...........: 48000 Hz Audio bitrate .........: 192 kb/s (96/ch, stereo) CBR ****************************************************************** File Name:La hora de los Hornos - 3 - Violencia y liberación File Size (in bytes) ..: 342 MB (or 351,206 KB or 359,634,944 bytes) Runtime (# of frames) .: 00:34:22 (51,538 fr) Video Codec ...........: XviD Frame Size ............: 720x576 FPS ...................: 25 Video Bitrate .........: 1197 kb/s Bits per Pixel ........: 0.115 bits/pixel Audio Codec ...........: 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3 Sample Rate ...........: 48000 Hz Audio bitrate .........: 192 kb/s (96/ch, stereo) CBR ********************************************************************************* ********************************* FREAKYFLICKS ********************************** Freakyflicks is a free and open community dedicated to preserving and sharing cinematic art in the digital era.
