Two public benches, someone chewing gum, a student waiting for her examination results, a strange young man hanging around, another one killing time… and a lot of sun. We are in a small town in the south of France, at the end of June. Skirts are shorter, skin clammy. It is only the beginning of the afternoon.
From such simple and incidental details Martin Rit (b.15/08/1978) earns comparisons with the great Chabrol for the manner in which voyeuristic tension is created and menace conjured from the most banal situations.
