Nueva York, 1988. Un nuevo tipo de droga ha invadido la enorme ciudad, seguida por la mβs feroz y aterradora oleada criminal que se recuerda. Superada en n˙mero de efectivos y en armas por los nuevos gβnsteres, la policøa pierde de promedio a dos de los suyos cada mes. Es una guerra declarada que amenaza con llevarse por delante a culpables e inocentes. Bobby Green se ve atrapado en el fuego cruzado. Es el encargado de una discoteca situada en Brighton Beach y frecuentada por gβnsteres como Vadim Nezhinski. Bobby intenta mantenerse apartado y no involucrarse. A pesar de un estilo de vida amoral y hedonista, quiere a su novia Amanda y sue±a con abrir una discoteca en Brooklyn. Pero Bobby tiene un secreto muy bien guardado: su hermano es el teniente de policøa Joseph Grusinsky, que ha seguido los pasos de su padre, el legendario jefe de policøa Burt Grusinsky. Bobby no se lleva bien con ellos y la relaci≤n empeora cuando su padre le advierte que es la guerra y que deberβ decidir de qué lado estβ.



New York, 1988: A new breed of narcotics has swept the great city, bringing with it a ferocious crime wave more terrifying than any in recent memory. An all-out war rages, threatening to engulf guilty and innocent alike.



Bobby Green (Joaquin Phoenix) is caught in the crossfire. Manager of a Russian nightclub in Brighton Beach frequented by gangsters like Vadim Nezhinski (Alex Veadov), Bobby keeps his distance, not wanting to get involved. Despite his hedonistic, amoral lifestyle, he is committed to his girlfriend Amada (Eva Mendes) and has ambitions to open his own club and expand out of Brooklyn.



Bobby has a secret, however, which he guards closely. His brother is Police Lieutenant Joseph Grusinsky (Mark Wahlberg), who has followed in the footsteps of their father, legendary Deputy Chief Burt Grusinsky (Robert Duvall). Bobby's already strained relationship with his father and brother is tested when Burt warns his son that this is a war, and he's going to have to choose a side.
