Si tratta del primo cannibal movie diretto da Ruggero Deodato. La pellicola fece conoscere il regista in tutto il mondo per le sue immagini scioccanti e una violenza molto realistica.

Inoltre il film è stato il primo a mostrare esplicite scene di cannibalismo in Italia, dato che il primo cannibal movie Il paese del sesso selvaggio, diretto da Umberto Lenzi nel 1972,

mostrava una sola scena di cannibalismo.

Nell'album Samarcanda Roberto Vecchioni ha citato il film, nel titolo della canzone Vaudeville (ultimo mondo cannibale).

Storyline:

A plane crashes in the jungle. One of the survivors gets lost and while trying to find a way out of the jungle he gets captured by cannibals. He is humiliated, stripped naked, and thrown in

a hole with a bird for a while. Eventually, he escapes with the help of a cannibal girl and tries to find his plane..............
