Life Of Brian (1979)

De drie wijzen uit het Oosten volgen de ster die hen zal leiden naar de Messias. Ze komen aan in de stal van Brian, die net geboren is. Ze geven zijn moeder allerlei cadeaus, maar dan komen ze erachter dat ze in de verkeerde stal zitten! Dit misverstand zal Brian (Graham Chapman) zijn hele leven blijven achtervolgen. Als hij opgegroeid is sluit hij zich aan bij het verzet, dat er op uit is de Romeinse overheerser te verdrijven. Op een dag wordt hij achterna gezeten door Romeinse soldaten en doet hij zich voor als een spreker op straat. Dan blijkt hij ineens een grote hoeveelheid mensen achter zich te hebben die in hem, wederom, de nieuwe Messias zien. Brian heeft nu een grote groep volgelingen, iets dat hem tot een gevaarlijk man maakt voor de gevestigde orde. Kan hij uit de handen blijven van de Romeinen of belandt hij uiteindelijk toch aan het kruis?

Brian is born in a stable on Christmas, right next to You Know Who. The wise men appear and begin to distribute gifts. The star moves further, so they take it all back and move on. This is how Brian's life goes. The Jews are looking for a release from the Romans, Spiritual and political decay, keep looking for signs and a group decides Brian is the Messiah. He cannot convince them he is not. He joins the Peoples' Front of Judea, one of several dozen separatist groups who actually do nothing, but really hate the Romans.
