basically the higher the bitrate, the chances are the better the quality. if the source is digitally perfect and mastered/final, then higher bitrate than 128 is a must if playing sound with 12" or larger subwoofers such as I do. lower bitrate causes treble to "muffle" rather than chime like bells(if that makes sense). 192 is standard and is good quality. 320 is higher quality. VBR means the bitrate moves up and down depending on source. CBR is a constant no change in bitrate. VBR is preferred and file size is smaller, but there is nothing wrong with CBR. i dont think your internet search engine is gonna tell you all that in a few sentences.
