TRAMA:

Negli ultimi quattro mesi di vita del Presidente Abraham Lincoln, il pieno spessore dell'uomo, con la passione e l'umanità che gli erano propri, maturò nella sua battaglia più decisiva: tracciare un nuovo percorso per una nazione devastata, a dispetto di circostanze quanto mai avverse e di pressioni estreme sia nella vita pubblica sia nella sfera privata.
Un complesso dramma umano sconvolge l'America mentre Lincoln moltiplica gli sforzi per fermare la devastante guerra civile non solo ponendo termine al conflitto, ma lottando per far approvare il 13° Emendamento, che abolisce per sempre la schiavitù. Il gesto è una vera e propria sfida, e il Presidente deve attingere a tutte le sue capacità, al coraggio e alla forza d'animo che faranno di lui una leggenda. Lincoln deve vedersela con l'impatto delle sue azioni sul mondo e sui suoi cari. Ma la posta in gioco è ciò che per Lincoln è sempre stata la cosa più importante: costringere il popolo americano e i membri del suo governo di parere opposto a cambiare rotta e puntare più in alto, verso un bene superiore per il genere umano.

STORYLINE:

In 1865, as the American Civil War winds inexorably toward conclusion, U.S. president Abraham Lincoln endeavors to achieve passage of the landmark constitutional amendment which will forever ban slavery from the United States. However, his task is a race against time, for peace may come at any time, and if it comes before the amendment is passed, the returning southern states will stop it before it can become law. Lincoln must, by almost any means possible, obtain enough votes from a recalcitrant Congress before peace arrives and it is too late. Yet the president is torn, as an early peace would save thousands of lives. As the nation confronts its conscience over the freedom of its entire population, Lincoln faces his own crisis of conscience -- end slavery or end the war.
