Little Brother Montgomery Little Brother Montgomery, Chicago 1976 Wikipedia: Eurreal Wilford "Little Brother" Montgomery (April 18, 1906 – September 6, 1985) was an American jazz, boogie-woogie and blues pianist and singer. Largely self-taught, Montgomery is often thought of as just a blues pianist, but he was an important blues pianist with an original style. He was also quite versatile, however, and worked in jazz bands including larger ensembles that used written arrangements. Although he did not read music, he learned band routines by ear; once through an arrangement and he had it memorized. Chicago: The Living Legends Release Date: 1961, (1993 Remaster) Duration: 47:48 Genre: Blues Styles: Piano Blues, Chicago Blues, Regional Blues Recording Date: September 6, 1961 Producer: Chris Albertson Chicago: The Living Legends was recorded live at the Birdhouse in Chicago. Much of the record is performed by Montgomery solo, although there's a handful of wonderful cuts that feature him with a small group of traditional jazz musicians. Most of the album is devoted to classic songs from the likes of Duke Ellington and Jelly Roll Morton, yet there are a couple of originals thrown in the mix as well. It's all distinguished by Montgomery's wonderful, laidback performances, which make this a little gem. 01. Home Again Blues 4:06 02. Up the Country Blues 4:40 03. Saturday Night Function 5:00 04.
