Afghanistan, giugno 2005. Nella base aerea di Bagram l'ufficiale Erik Kristensen informa e predispone i suoi uomini alla missione: catturare e uccidere Ahmad Shah, temibile capo talebano responsabile della morte di numerosi marines nell'Afghanistan dell'est. Marcus, Mickey, Danny e Axe vengono mandati in ricognizione sulle montagne intorno al villaggio dove Ahmad Shah si rifugia, vessando e giustiziando la sua gente. Forze speciali della Marina degli Stati Uniti, i quattro Navy Seal localizzano il leader integralista e attendono nascosti nuovi ordini. Ma il sopraggiungere improvviso di pastori e l'impossibilità di comunicare via radio con la base, li rende molto presto bersagli vulnerabili. Accerchiati e attaccati dal fuoco nemico, proveranno a sopravvivere, resistendo ai colpi inflitti e sperando nella buona sorte e nell'arrivo della cavalleria.
