Lonnie Brooks 1983 - Hot Shot (1992 Reissue) [mp3@320] Lonnie Brooks Lonnie Brooks in 2006 Wikipedia: Lonnie Brooks (born Lee Baker Jr., December 18, 1933) is an American blues singer and guitarist. He was born in Dubuisson, Louisiana. The musicologist Robert Palmer, writing in Rolling Stone, stated, "His music is witty, soulful and ferociously energetic, brimming with novel harmonic turnarounds, committed vocals and simply astonishing guitar work." The music critic Jon Pareles, of the New York Times, wrote, "He sings in a rowdy baritone, sliding and rasping in songs that celebrate lust, fulfilled and unfulfilled; his guitar solos are pointed and unhurried, with a tone that slices cleanly across the beat. Wearing a cowboy hat, he looks like the embodiment of a good-time bluesman." With his astonishing guitar work and blistering voice, this is one powerful album. He's screaming on nearly every song, his voice often at the breaking point. Great songs include 'Don't take advantage of me', 'Messed Up again', 'I want all my money back', 'Brand New Mojo Hand', 'One more shot'. If you're a fan of uptempo electric blues, give this one a try. AllMusic Review by Bill Dahl: A return to rollicking good-time form, boasting the roaring "Don't Take Advantage of Me" and "I Want All My Money Back," relentless rocking revivals of Otis Blackwell's "Back Trail" and J.B. Lenoir's "One More Shot," and a faithful remake of Lonnie Brooks' own "Family Rules" from the Guitar Junior era. 01. Don't Take Advantage of Me [04:19] 02. Wrong Number [03:14] 03.
