This is book 10 of the Eve Dallas/In Death series, an excellent series of books and short stories set roughly sixty years in the future. The protagonist, Lieutenant Eve Dallas, is a Homicide detective in New York. At one point in this book the Twin Towers are referred to as possible terrorist targets. I've seen this "anachronism" explained by reference to the 1999 release of the book, two years before the 9/11 attacks. This overlooks the nature of science fiction. Just because the towers were destroyed in 2001 in our world, doesn't mean that they were in Eve's world. Actually, given the Urban Wars in Eve's past, they might have been destroyed before her time and then rebuilt! The author is the extremely prolific romance writer Nora Roberts. She writes this series, and this series only, under the pen name J. D. Robb. This is my fourth release of this series. The earlier three versions were HTML only, and were released for me by other people, to whom I am very grateful. This version differs from the earlier releases in that: (1) HTML, EPUB, Movi, and PDF files are included, (2) I'm releasing each book or story separately, and (3) I'm releasing them myself.
