Lutterloh pattern making books (Size: 1.33 GB)
Description
Lutterloh's system is German, started in the mid 1930's. That means that the earlier books are in German. However, this doesn't matter because once you know how the system works, you just use the patterns.
This system uses what is called "radial grading". The patterns are small, 1/4 scale, and you use the special ruler and two measurements, your bust and hips (please be sure to carefully read the instructions) you need no other measurements. The 1954 book has a pattern for a bullet bra. So very Mad Men! These patterns are European, more like Burda. The pants crotch seams are not the same and there are far more couture methods that you'll need. Invest in a good sewing method book from the era and you'll be fine. Lutterloh makes the assumption that you know sewing construction, so there are NO instructions, even with modern Lutterloh. So if you do not know how a garment is constructed, then I suggest (again) investing in a basic sewing book and learning how. Also included are a curve and the special tape measure extension. Add the tape measure extension to a CM tape measure (inches will not work) make sure the "8" lines up with the "8" on the regular tape measure. The red curve is for joining up the dots you have when you create a pattern. Tape the curve together and glue the curve to cardboard. Also included are manuals on how to use the Lutterloh System, and a set of modern patterns for vest and shorts. These modern patterns are given away free by Lutterloh at their seminars. Please seed.
