Notice by the screen shots that the set language is Russian. That's not a problem. You just have to open the "International" control panel and select English. If you don't read Russian, it helps to google how to change languages in MacOS and just follow the screen shots by icon and menu position (Apple menu, 2 word choice, icon with the flag [...]). If you translate.google.com words you expect like "System Settings" then you'll know what to look for.
This is the first 10.9 VM I'm tried that doesn't have Safari crash due to an imcompatibility with SVGAII, on my HP DV7 laptop running VMworkstation 10.0.1. So I have hopes for it working well.\n
However, iPhoto is not one of the installed applications. I don't know why, but suspect facial recognition is a technology banned for export. So might have to play with grabbing the application from another installation and importing it to this image.
