All of the videos in this collection:

- are ripped from the retail DVDs.

- are in the Matroska media container format.

- include the original AC3 audio track from the DVD.

- include the chapter marks from the DVD.

- are labeled with the episode name in the Matroska "Title" comment.

- have been inverse telecined to remove duplicate fields.

- are compressed with DivX Pro 6.0 or 6.1.

- were encoded in three passes.

- include the original airdate and production sequence in the file name.



The DivX encoding used the following options:

- Home Theater Profile

- Adaptive Single Consecutive Bidirectional Encoding

- Source Aspect NTSC 4:3 (resize to width 640 pixels)

- Bicubic (normal) Resize Filter

- No Cropping

- Normal Noise Reduction

- Psychovisual Enhancements Off

- Progressive Source

- H.263 Optimized Quantization



The first two encoding passes were performed at Standard quality.

The last encoding pass was performed at Extreme quality.



The files are specifically sized to allow each season to be burned onto three

4.35-GB DVDR discs.

| How do I play Matroska media files? |

You basically have two choices on Windows:



1. Media Player Classic (recommended)

Media Player Classic has built-in support for reading the Matroska media

container format. All you need is the DivX decoder filter.



2. Matroska Pack

The Matroska Pack will allow any DirectShow player (like Windows Media

Player) to parse the Matroska container format. You will probably want the

"Lite" edition of the Matroska Pack.



Virtually any decent media player for Linux can read Matroska if it is compiled

with the proper configuration.

| Why don't I get any sound? |

The files in this collection contain the original AC3 audio tracks from the

DVDs. Your media player must support AC3 audio. Media Player Classic has a

built-in AC3 decoder. You can also obtain Alexander Vigovsky's AC3Filter to

enable any DirectShow player (like Windows Media Player) to play AC3 audio.

| Can I play these videos on my DivX set-top player? |

Because these videos conform to the DivX Home Theater Profile, they can be

played in DivX-certified set-top players, though not many players, if any,

support the Matroska format. VirtualDubMod can be used to repackage the

videos into AVI format. The AVI files resulting from VirtualDubMod should

retain the AC3 audio but will lose the chapter marks.
