I changed the timezone to the UTC +8.00 Hong Kong, game working. No crash on windows 8 pro x64.

Works just fine but I'm having freezing issues when Max reloads his gun. Am I the only one?

i had a crash a couple times around using the shotgun

Save the above as a "madmax.bat" without quotes to play without freezing. This fixed it for me.
