You Can Dance is the first remix album by American singer-songwriter Madonna, released on
November 30, 1987 by Sire Records. The album contains remixes of tracks from her first three
studio albums and a new track, "Spotlight," which gained moderate airplay in the US.
The RIAA certified it' Gold & Platinum on Jan 20, 1988, denoting one million shipments
in the United States. A promotional version, You Can Dance - Single Edits of Album Remixes, was
issued on the same day to dance clubs in the US featuring single edits of the album cuts. This
promotional version charted as You Can Dance (LP Cuts) on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart,
peaking at #1 on February 6, 1988. It has sold over 5 million copies, making it the second best
selling remix album worldwide.
