Marcia Ball - 1989 - Gatorhythms [EAC FLAC] Marcia Ball Wikipedia: Marcia Ball (born March 20, 1949, Orange, Texas) is an American blues singer and pianist who was raised in Vinton, Louisiana. She was described in USA Today as "a sensation, saucy singer and superb pianist... where Texas stomp-rock and Louisiana blues-swamp meet." The Boston Globe described her music as "an irresistible celebratory blend of rollicking, two-fisted New Orleans piano, Louisiana swamp rock and smoldering Texas blues from a contemporary storyteller." Gatorhythms Artist: Marcia Ball Title: Gatorhythms Producer: Marcia Ball, Steve Tillisch Release Date: June 20, 1989 Label: Rounder Records Catalog: Rounder CD 3101 ASIN: B003Y0WGLE Genre: Blues, Piano Blues, Electric Texas Blues, Swamp Blues Duration: 34:29 AllMusic Review by Ron Wynn: Marcia Ball explored R&B and honky tonk country on this album, keeping her blues chops in order while expanding her repertoire. She included a pair of tunes by country vocalist Lee Roy Parnell, "What's a Girl to Do" and "Red Hot," doing both in a feisty, attacking fashion. She was also challenging and upbeat on Dr. John's "How You Carry On" and "Find Another Fool." Her third Rounder album, Gatorhythms was one of her most entertaining and dynamic, as Ball became less of an interpreter and more of an individualist. Amazon.com Review by Colin Escott: A mainstay of the festival circuit and blues clubs, Marcia Ball is a captivating performer and a one-woman ambassador for the south Louisiana sound she loves. This, her third Rounder album, dates from 1989. It's a mostly self-composed program that doesn't quite capture the joy of her live shows, but comes close at times. Of all the new songs, "The Power of Love" is best. It's a beautifully poised performance that grows slowly and inexorably from a two-minute vocal-piano intro. Some of the songs are built around the mournful swamp-pop chord changes; others around Cajun two-steps. The album closes with country star LeRoy Parnell's "Red Hot," which has since become one of her show-closers. 01 - How You Carry On - 2:42 02 - La Ti Da - 3:42 03 - The Power of Love - 4:16 04 - Mobile - 3:10 05 - Find Another Fool - 4:20 06 - Mama's Cooking - 3:03 07 - What's a Girl to Do? - 3:28 08 - Daddy Said - 2:43 09 - You'll Come Around - 3:54 10 - Red Hot - 3:11 Personnel: Marcia Ball - Accordion, Organ, Piano, Vocals Lou Ann Barton - Vocals (Background) Don Bennett - Bass Jon Blondell - Trombone Stephen Bruton - Guitar, Guitar (Acoustic), Guitar (Electric), Slide Guitar Rodney Craig - Bells, Cowbell, Drums, Triangle James Hinkle - Guitar, Guitar (Rhythm) Mark "Kaz" Kazanoff - Sax (Baritone), Sax (Tenor) Derek O'Brien - Guitar Angela Strehli - Vocals (Background) Jesse Taylor - Guitar Keith Winking - Trumpet Note: This is not my rip My thanks to the original uploader ♪♬♫ ENJOY! ♪♬♫ Related Torrents
