Very informative and well done... 10/10! [quote name='murphy'>....really interesting and funny lecture ! It's April 6, 2005. The Mars Exploration Rovers Spirit and Opportunity have both found evidence for water-related processes at their landing sites. In Gusev crater, Spirit has found that the older rocks in the Columbia Hills show evidence for substantial alteration by water. At Meridiani Planum, Opportunity has found layered sedimentary rocks that are a mixture of fine-grained silicate particles and chemical sediments precipitated from liquid water. Environmental conditions that these rocks record include episodic inundation by shallow surface water, evaporation, and desiccation. Most importantly, Opportunity has discovered that the environmental conditions at Meridiani may have been suitable for supporting life at some point in the planet's history. Treat yourself to one of the most provocative and entertaining lectures of the last ten years: Steve Squyres' Mars Exploration Rovers Sackler lecture, given April 6, 2005 in Pimentel Hall, UC Berkeley.
