Ed Grimley was a character invented by actor/comedian Martin Short for SCTV and who also appeared on Saturday Night Live and in the HBO Comedy Special "I, Martin Short, Goes Hollywood." In 1988 Hanna-Barbera brought the character to Saturday mornings. The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley ran for a single season on NBC. Edward Mayhoff Grimley is an eccentric sort who wears his pants up to his armpits and lives with his pet goldfish Moby and a rat named Sheldon. He is infatuated with his attractive neighbor, Miss Tina Malone, whose younger brother Wendell often drops by to visit. Ed's landlord Mr. Freebus and his wife make frequent appearances as well. Ed likes Pat Sajak, wild classical music, and "playing" the triangle (usually by strinking it once and then dancing maniacally to the single note).
