Trivia:The original play was adapted into a Marx Bros. screenplay by Morrie Ryskind, who co-wrote the stage and screen versions of Cocoanuts and Animal Crackerss and also co-wrote A Night at the Opera. still worth seeing, 4 January 2002

Author: Austen

Many criticize "Room Service" as the worst Marx Brothers film. This is both misleading and ridiculous. While "Duck Soup" now receives the most critical acclaim, one need only compare that film to Room Serivce to see a dramatic improvement in the directing and delivery. Room Service wasn't written explicitly for the Marx Brothers, so it doesn't have catchy lines. Still, the film flows much better than predecessors and is still pretty damn funny. The Marx Brothers made many great movies, and yes, this is one of those great ones!

Funny, but not as funny..., 26 December 2001

Author: ListerUK2001 from London, England

At The Circus has its fair share of funny dialogue but not as sharp as previous films. It has a lot of slapstick, but far from the anarchic quality of before. This film dwindles with a few shreds of wit and the odd spark of original comic turn from Harpo. It does not compare well to any of the films that came before but is still superior to films which followed. Nothing new is added to the mix and what remains are a collection of tired routines. The piano solo for Chico and harp solo for Harpo are less engaging and the usual high point of their films; the Chico/ Groucho, Groucho/ Dummont dialogues are just as weary. There is a wonderfully sustained moment of comic lunacy towards the end which includes an orchastra playing on a band stand that is drifting off to sea. An overall unbalanced picture that will satisfy Marxist fans and be regarded as top of the range light entertainment by others. It only suffers because it follows so many comic masterpieces from the Marx Brothers.

Going' West with the craziest brothers ever..., 29 January 2006

Author: Henry Fields (kikecam@teleline.es) from Spain

The movies from the Marx Bros. are just like my old Bowie's vinyls, or my Oscar Wilde's books: they're always there, and always will be. They're just like those old friends that will never let you down.

"Go West" has each and everyone of the essential ingredients of the movies from Groucho and co. : hilarious dialogs, crazy situations, Harpo's hooliganism, the music... everything goes as quick as a flash. So, if some youngster thinks that this movie hasn't anything to offer because it was made 65 years ago, thats belongs to the Pleistocenic... OK, I won't waste my time explaining why the Marx Brothers are bigger than life. I'd rather watch "Duck Soup" or "A Night At The Opera" one more time, and let the party begin once again
