After four weeks of competition, the 12 remaining contenders come together to compete in the semi-finals. They face an Invention test that features an abundant selection of meat, fish, fruit, vegetables and herbs and spices to choose from, but must go back to basics as all the modern machines are removed from the kitchen. Marcus Wareing, Monica Galetti and Gregg Wallace then choose the best eight to go straight through, leaving the four weakest to cook off for the two remaining places in the competition.
