Beast Man

Description

Published by Image Comics.

Keldor is at the Berserker Islands searching for somebody savage and strong enough to assist him in his conquests, and an old shaman shows him images of a beast that he will find in a town at west. At Keldor's arrival at the town, it begins raining, so he accepts the hospitality of a cat-woman, but then he faces her jealous wolflike mate. Suddenly, the wolf-like man is killed by Beast Man, the beast Keldor was seeking for. Beast Man refuses Keldor's offer and they fight. Beast Man is about to bite Keldor's head off until servants of King Trinok, ruler of the Berserker Islands, submit him with tranquilizer darts. They intend to cook both Beast Man and Keldor as a meal for their king. Keldor awakes at a cell next to Beast Man and convinces him to work together to escape. They defeat the guards, but since they don't know the place, they end where the fire to cook them is being lit. King Trinok orders to kill them, but Trinok's people aren't rivals for Keldor's magic and Beast Man's brute strength. Finally, Trinok himself enters the fray and Keldor kills him with just one burst of magic energy. Keldor and Beast Man run away while Trinok's vizier offers a reward for the heads of the king's murderers. Keldor tells Beast Man that, with the king dead and everyone in the Berserker Islands hunting him, his options are leave and serve him or stay and die. Beast Man addresses Keldor as his master.

Mer-Man retires to his throne room with instructions that he doesn’t want to be disturbed. Moments later, Mer-Man dozes off on the throne!! Mer-Man is quickly awakened by one of his servants who informs the king that emissaries have brought news from the Outer Bank. It seems that there is a pocket civilization in the Outer Bank that is free of Mer-Man’s rule and influence. Angered that this civilization isn’t aware that he rules the oceans and everything in them, Mer-Man orders his troops to attack! When Mer-Man arrives in the Outer Bank, he is greeted by a citizen who honestly doesn’t know who he is. Mer-Man quickly informs him that he is the king of all of the oceans, then proceeds to “teach” him how to bow before his king! Once the Outer Bank citizens announce that they are under attack, their leader Aquarus hows up to confront Mer-Man. Refusing to lay his sword down, Aquarus is attacked by Mer-Man! Aquarus summons his troops and other aquatic creatures to battle Mer-Man’s forces, while he engages in a knock down drag out brawl with Mer-Man! Mer-Man brings the battle to a quick conclusion by summoning a gigantic sea creature, which he uses to flatten the troops and their city! As Mer-Man and his troops swim away, Aquarus informs his fellow survivors, “This battle is far from over.” As soon as Mer-Man returns to his kingdom, the alarm is sounded! The sea is filled with Aquarus’ attacking troops! Mer-Man quickly engages Aquarus, but soon finds himself getting his fins handed to him, as his city crumbles around him! In fact, as a boulder crashes toward a Mer-woman and her Mer-baby, it’s not Mer-Man who comes to the rescue, but Aquarus! Aquarus resumes his battle with Mer-Man, knocking the king to the ground and informing him, “You brought this all on yourself! You came to us! You attacked us!” Aquarus then informs Mer-Man that he has lost his city and the ocean life he once commanded has all taken his side. Mer-Man sits up with an evil grin and replies, “Not all of them.” With that, Mer-Man’s gigantic sea creature swallows Aquarus!! Mer-Man mounts the gigantic sea creature, and orders Aquarus’ troops to surrender. As Aquarus’ troops retreat, Mer-Man’s forces cheer their victorious king. However, the cheers stop when Mer-Man turns to find that their battle with Aquarus’ forces had damaged his city!!

Skeletor knocks Kronis out and orders Beast Man and Whiplash to throw him away from Snake Mountain, so he will learn that he cannot survive alone in the Dark hemisphere, that has become a chaos of feuding bandits after the rise of the Mystic Wall. Kronis is ambushed by bandits, but he defeats them and becomes their leader. Then thy go to an encampment and kill the general, after which Knonis tells the men to become his army. With time, Kronis' army has several successful raids, offering the defeated the option of joining such army or die. When the army is big enough, Kronis decides to attack Snake Mountain. At Snake Mountain, Tri-Klops informs Skeletor that his Doomseekers have confirmed the informs about Kronis' massive army, and they come to Snake Mountain. An enraged Skeletor shoots Tri-Klops with the Havoc Staff. Kronis' army battle Skeletor's creatures, while Kronis himself climbs the mountain to find Skeletor. They fight and Skeletor burns Kronis' face, which turns green. Skeletor then blows Kronis' right arm, but Kronis still fights until Skeletor breaks his jaw away with a punch. When Skeletor has Kronis at his mercy, Kronis reaches Skeletor's shoulder with his left hand. Skeletor notices Kronis is begging for his life, so he decides that is impressed with everything Kronis has managed during his exile and spares his life. Tri-Klops arrives to tel Skeletor that Kronis' army has been defeated. Skeletor goes to deal with the survivors while orders Tri-Klops to repair Kronis. Tri-Klops re-built Kronis with cybernetic parts. They were able to fashion himself a false arm that he could use inter-changeable weapons. Evil-Lynn helped by providing a magic spell that would give Kronis control of this false arm as easily as he controlled his real one. Then they turned one of Kronis's traps into a jaw brace that gave him a terrifying look. Evil-Lyn magically fused Kronis's jaw and brace together so that they could never be removed. Later, Evil-Lyn talks to the cybernetically repaired Kronis. She tells that she used to respect him, but now that he begged for his life after everything Skeletor did to him, he disgusts her. Evil-Lyn leaves and doesn't hear Kronis telling that he wasn't begging for his life; he was trying to strangle Skeletor. He will remain with Skeletor due to the old saying "keep your friends close and your enemies closer", and finally he decides his name will be Trap Jaw from now on.

Tri-Klops

Description

Published by CrossGen Publishing. Cover done by: Cory Walker, and Val Staples.

An inventor is ambushed by bandits, when a swordsman with a bandana covering his eyes kills the bandits, but is blinded by a spell by one of them. The inventor recognises the blinding spell and tells him he has something that can seal the spell before it extends. Years later, Keldor wants the inventor's technology for himself. He attacks the inventor's tower accompanied by Beast-Man and an army. While his army faces robots outside, Keldor enters the tower and reaches the inventor, but he's protected by the blind swordsman, who now wears a helmet that keeps the spell sealed. Keldor and the swordsman fight until the inventor opens a trapdoor, they both fall and continue their battle underground until Keldor knocks the Swordsman's helmet away. The swordsman gets desperate, but Keldor tells him that a spell like that is temporary and would have dissipated in days in case of not being sealed, so the inventor tricked him. Keldor eliminates the spell so the swordsman can see, just barely. Keldor uses his magic to return upside and the swordsman kills the inventor. Months later, the swordsman gets a new helmet and is renamed Tri-Klops. The helmet has three rotating eyes that give him infrared vision, Gammavision and optic energy blasts, among other abilities. Tri-Klops is grateful to Keldor. In private, Keldor explains the truth to Beast Man: the spell would have extended to all of Tri-Klops' senses if not for the inventor sealing it and Keldor later eliminating it. Besides, the helmet with three eyes had already been designed by the inventor to keep the spell sealed an allow Tri-Klops to see. At the end, the real responsable of his new sight is the man he betrayed, but not knowing this, he will unquestionably serve Keldor.
