Een stel hardlopers uit McFarland in Californië onder leiding van
coach Jim White, een nieuwkomer op de school met overwegend Latino's,
besluit een cross-country team te vormen. De coach en de leerlingen
moet nog veel van elkaar leren, maar wanneer White de uitzonderlijke
loopprestaties van de jongens ontdekt beginnen er dingen te veranderen.
