Mehta - New Years Concert (2015) [24bit FLAC] VPO

The New Year's Concert live from Vienna is one of the world's most famous and spectacular classical music events. It will be broadcasted on TV and radio in almost 80 countries around the world with more than 40 million viewers.

In 2015 The Vienna Philharmonic has invited Zubin Mehta to conduct the New Year's Concert. A statement on the orchestra's website announced: "With this new invitation, the orchestra pays tribute not only to one of the leading conductors of our time, but also to the great humanist, Zubin Mehta."

This will be the fifth time that Maestro Mehta has ascended the podium. He previously conducted in 1990, 1995, 1998 and 2007. The program - as every year - traditionally revolves around waltzes and polkas by the Strauss family (Johann father and son, as well as Josef and Eduard Strauss), and includes works by other composers of that era - a piece by Franz von Suppé, as well as one by Hans Christian Lumbye. Five pieces that will be part of the New Year's Concert 2015 have never been performed before at a NYC (see track list below).

The proven formula again blends well-known classics with premieres of works that have never been recorded or are rarely heard – and the result is invariably both joyful and moving.
