Michael Bloomfield - 1994 Don’t Say That I Ain’t Your Man! Essential Blues 1964-1969 [EAC FLAC] Mike Bloomfield Wikipedia: Michael Bernard "Mike" Bloomfield (July 28, 1943 – February 15, 1981) was an American guitarist and composer, born in Chicago, Illinois, who became one of the first popular music superstars of the 1960s to earn his reputation almost entirely on his instrumental prowess, since he rarely sang before 1969 and 1970. Respected for his fluid guitar playing, Bloomfield knew and played with many of Chicago's blues legends before achieving his own fame and was one of the primary influences on the revival of classic Chicago blues and other styles of blues music in the mid- to late 1960s. He was ranked number 22 on Rolling Stone's list of "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" in 2003 and number 42 by the same magazine in 2011. He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2012 and, as a member of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. Don’t Say That I Ain’t Your Man! Essential Blues 1964-1969 Artist: Michael Bloomfield Title: Don’t Say That I Ain’t Your Man! Essential Blues 1964-1969 Producers: Paul Rothchild, Bob Morgan, Michael Melford, Elliot Mazer, Al Kooper John Hammond, Jr., Nick Gravenites, John Court Compilation Producer: Bob Irwin Release Date: May 10, 1994 Label: Columbia/Legacy Catalog: CK 57631 Barcode: 8 86972 38022 3 Genre: Blues, Electric Chicago Blues, Blues Rock Duration: 71:29 AllMusic Review by Richie Unterberger: Fifteen tracks covering the pioneering blues-rock guitarist's '60s work, which was by far his best and most influential. Bloomfield worked with a bunch of bands during the decade, and the compilation flits rather hurriedly from his contributions to the Paul Butterfield Blues Band and Electric Flag, to his collaborations with Al Kooper, as well as some late-'60s solo tracks (none of his groundbreaking mid-'60s work with Dylan is here). Collectors will be interested in the first five songs, which date from previously unreleased sessions produced by John Hammond in late 1964 and early 1965. Featuring Charlie Musselwhite on harmonica, this pre-Butterfield Blues Band outfit plays convincingly, but the material is standard-issue, and Bloomfield's vocals are thin and weak (they didn't improve much over time). As befits Bloomfield's considerable but erratic talent, this is an interesting but erratic compilation; seek out the first two Paul Butterfield albums for a more cohesive showcase of his skills. 01 I’ve Got You in the Palm of My Hand - 2:26 02 Last Night - 3:24 03 Feel So Good - 2:54 04 Goin’ Down Slow - 3:40 05 I Got My Mojo Working - 2:39 06 Born in Chicago - 3:08 07 Work Song - 7:55 08 Killing Floor - 4:11 09 Albert’s Shuffle - 6:54 10 Stop - 4:23 11 Mary Ann - 5:28 12 Don’t Throw Your Love on Me So Strong - 11:03 13 Don’t Think About It, Baby - 2:34 14 It Takes Time - 4:07 15 Carmelita Skiffle - 5:13 Personnel: Ace of Cups - Vocals Reinol Andino - Congas Jerome Arnold - Bass Elvin Bishop - Guest Artist, Guitar, Soloist Michael Bloomfield - Guitar, Primary Artist, Soloist, Vocals Harvey Brooks - Bass Paul Butterfield - Harmonica, Soloist, Vocals Billy Davenport - Drums Marcus Doubleday - Trumpet Cornelius "Snookey" Flowers Sax (Baritone) Michael Fonfara - Keyboards Brian Friedman - Piano Barry Thomas Goldberg - Keyboards, Piano (Electric) Nick Gravenites - Guest Artist, Percussion, Performer, Vocals Fast Eddie Hoh - Drums Noel Jewkes - Sax (Soprano), Sax (Tenor) Michael Johnson - Guitar Bob "Congo" Jones - Drums John Kahn - Bass, Guest Artist Ira Kamin - Organ, Piano Al Kooper - Organ, Piano Norman Mayell - Drums Michael Melford - Guitar Buddy Miles - Drums, Guest Artist Charlie Musselwhite - Guest Artist, Harmonica Mark Naftalin - Organ, Piano, Soloist Fred Olsen - Guitar (Rhythm) Gerald Oshita - Sax (Baritone), Sax (Tenor) Skip Prokop - Drums Orville Rhodes - Guitar (Steel) Herbie Rich - Keyboards, Sax (Tenor) Ron Ruby - Organ Roy Ruby - Organ Richard Santi - Accordion Sivuca - Guest Artist, Guitar, Percussion Rev.
